Tapton
Tapton is a very varied and diverse area of the city of Sheffield that attracts a large number of residents from varying backgrounds. Tapton is unique in its diversity, a journey from one end to the other will take you from densely packed residential terraced housing through to larger semi detached and detached housing with a much lower population density. Tapton is probably most famous for being the site of one of the main halls of residence for Sheffield University, the catered halls house 400 students (usually undergraduates in their first year) and it offers excellent access to the university campus itself just a short walk away.
Because of this many students move into houses in the Tapton area when they leave the halls of residence, either houses of multiple occupancy or smaller homes. This has resulting in a thriving buy to let market in Tapton that is probably one of the best in the city itself, and despite the recession this continues to be a popular site for people looking to buy to let. The nearby students union ensures that the student population is never far away, but they are on the whole very well behaved. Tapton exists as something of a self contained unit and although the city centre of Sheffield is a short journey away there are many local amenities including shops, schools, and various leisure sites.
The Tapton Park Golf Course is very popular with people travelling from all over the city and its surroundings to enjoy a game. It is actually an amalgamation of four different courses of varying difficulty levels all available to play for a small monthly fee or a yearly subscription. Tapton house prices have remained very affordable throughout the recession and the market in the area is still very competitive. Tapton Secondary School was for a time the most popular secondary school in the area and still continues to attract excellent reviews.
