Sharrow Vale
Sharrow Vale sits in the Nether Edge ward of the city of Sheffield along with Brincliffe, Carter, Knowle and, Nether, Edge. A part of Banner Cross also sits in the Nether Edge ward next to Sharrow Vale. The area sits to the south of the main centre of the city and like many areas it was originally a village that became a suburb of Sheffield as the city borders expanded over the years. Historically the area was very rural with no large settlements existing in the area, however there were small hamlets dotted around throughout the mediaeval period with much of the land surrounding these small groups of houses being cultivated for farming.
It was not until the mid 1800's when the area began to be developed from a small group of rural hamlets into a true settlement in its own right. Sharrow Vale was originally founded as a small settlement with a large amount of green space surrounding it. Gradually much of this green space that made Sharrow Vale so spacious was sold off for development and this led to the area becoming a suburb of the larger city of Sheffield. Sharrow Vale is quite a self contained unit with a number of shops and good transport access ensuring that anything that isn't a few moments walk from your doorstep is a short journey away into the city centre. Parts of neighbouring Nether Edge are designated conservation areas ensuring that Sharrow Vale is a much sought after area for housing both purchasing to live in and also buy to let. The nearby Sheffield Botanical Gardens and historic Sheffield General Cemetery emphasise how important Sharrow Vale actually is in the city of Sheffield, and it is very close to Endcliffe Park ensuring that there is still ample green space to explore at your leisure.
Like nearby Nether Edge Sharrow Vale is very easy to find thanks to good road links, and although it is fairly hilly it is still very accessible. The roads are quite safe with lower volumes of traffic, and the area is primarily populated by young families or young professional couples, and many of the streets and roads are lined with trees making them appear shady and breezy even on a hot summers day. There are many shops and stores within walking distance, and the vast majority of amenities that you could expect are well accounted for in Sharrow Vale. There are also a number of excellent bars, pubs and restaurants ensuring that there is always something to see and do in Sharrow Vale.
