Sandygate

Sandygate is a large part of the Crookes ward region of Sheffield, one of the 28 electoral wards that make up the city. Sandygate is situated towards the western reaches of Sheffield and is home to some 6,000 people according to the last census. Sandygate is roughly four km from the city centre area of Sheffield and it is primarily a housing area with large swathes of residential land being occupied by the people who live in the region. It's close location to the A57 ensures that there are excellent links to other areas of the city via regularly scheduled bus routes and also surrounding towns, cities and villages. There is no real mention of Sandygate in the history books, it is believed to be a fairly modern addition to the city even though it was probably settled by small grounds of people throughout the ages. The Crookes ward and Sandygate in particular were popular areas for passing trade throughout history and this continued up to the modern day with the regions of the Crookes ward being some of the first to be given a public bus license. There are a number of detached and semi-detached houses in Sandygate, but there are also a number of terraces ensuring that houses vary greatly in price in the area.

It's close proximity to the prestigious area of Crosspool ensures that Sandygate properties are always in demand and the close links to the city centre make it a very popular destination in which to live. The northern area past Crookes ward and Sandygate is mostly fields and wooded countryside, and the River Rivelin adds a touch of natural beauty to the region. The areas surrounding Sandygate have actually been settled for many thousands of years with bronze age relics being unearthed in various areas dotted across the Crookes ward, and Sandygate maintains a particularly unique charm like many of the Crookes ward sub-districts. From old turn of the century terraced houses that wind down steeply sloped streets to quiet, peaceful detached houses nestled in the green open spaces surrounding Sandygate there is no denying that the sheer variety of property available in the area make it a very attractive prospect for those looking to live in the area. This ensures a steady supply of tenants should you be interested in buying to let, and you will be able to attract slightly higher prices than many areas of Sheffield. With a large amount of charming pubs and restaurants and an ever increasing student population it is clear that Sandygate is going from strength to strength.
