Devonshire Green
Devonshire Green is actually the largest public park in the city of Sheffield, and its prime location in the centre of the city ensures that it maintains a suitably cosmopolitan atmosphere. There are many shops and houses and various other amenities dotted around the Devonshire Green area, and although it is not a true residential area the proximity to the city centre and all of the facilities it offers along with the attraction of the large swathes of green space makes it a prime destination for people to choose to live in.
Devonshire Green itself is in a stunning location with many shoppers and residents choosing to sit and relax in the relative peace and quiet during the summer sun, and it is large enough for a number of festivals and events to take place throughout the year. There is a skateboard park and BMX park on the outskirts of Devonshire Green and the many restaurants, bars, and contemporary structures ensure that there is always plenty to see and do in the thriving and bustling area of Devonshire Green. The area has sprung to prominence after receiving a major facelift and refit in 2007, with Sheffield City Council parting with £1.6 million to regenerate Devonshire Green.
All of the turfed areas were rejuvenated and a large planting project was undertaken with many new flower beds, sitting walls, seating and trees being installed for people to enjoy. As the only real large green space in the city centre Devonshire Green will always be an attractive area for housing, but with actual houses in short supply you can be sure that prices are at a premium, but you do get what you pay for.
Many would argue that there is nowhere quite as good as Devonshire Green to live in Sheffield, and if you enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city centre and the relaxation of the city greenery then it could be the perfect destination for you. Buying to let is still a viable business prospect in the area, particularly if you are considering flats or apartments as they will attract a much higher rate than those out in the suburbs.
